Zheen is a non-governmental and non-profitable documentation and research centre, founded by a group of intellectuals in Sulaymaniyah-Iraqi Kurdistan in 2004. Its principal mission is to collect and preserve the written heritage of Kurds and Kurdistan, record oral history of everyday life and conduct and publish academic researches. Zheen functions as a library, an archive, a research centre and a publishing house and therefore, it views itself as a historical repository of the political, social, cultural and intellectual life of Kurdistan and the guardian of its national memory.
